Drama

Lights! Camera! Action!

At our school, pupils in KS2 and KS3 access one Drama lesson a week in our Main Hall / Drama Studio.

With a unique place in the school curriculum, our Drama lessons aim to equip our pupils with skills that are transferable and useful in both the wider school and wider world.

Through a variety of carefully selected Drama games, speaking and listening exercises, teamwork challenges and performance projects, we aim to help our pupils develop their levels of self-control, self-expression and self-confidence - all while having the most fun possible! laugh

What are we doing in Drama this year?

Firstly, a warm congratulations from all of us to Mrs Francis-Goss (our  regular Drama teacher) and her husband on the birth of her baby daughter, Ezra Francis-Goss, who was born at 2:31am on 1st December weighing 6Ibs10!

We hope all is well, miss you loads, and look forward to your return to school in September 2018!

This year, on top of all our hard work practicising our key drama skills just like Mrs Francis-Goss has taught us, we're also working with Mr Collinson (a.k.a. Mr DC) on some exciting new filming projects!

Every term this year, each Drama class is getting their own Video Project tailored to that class' needs and interests, and everyone in that class will need to work together to write, design, perform and film a video of their choice as a team.

So far, we've already produced some fantastic movie trailers, as well as an excellent (although maybe a bit late...) attempt at the 2016 Mannequin Challenge to practice our
'Freeze Frame' techniques!

Coming up, we've got some interesting new units looking at both 'Green Screen' technology, allowing us to make some high-tech news reports, and 'Stop Motion' animation, the same animation technique used in the Wallace and Gromit movies!

Watch this space for more of our projects on these later this year!

We're really proud of the hard work and effort the pupils have poured into their projects this year so far, and have featured a wide selection of photos and videos on our page here for you to view yourself below!
